Hello,
Yes, I’ve used it in a few bathrooms. I can’t speak to the humidity issue since at my house we don’t shower in the bathroom where it is so we don’t have to worry about steam. Water splashing isn’t an issue. A good paint and paint job will protect it pretty well. I really like Sherwin Williams Pro Classic. Good luck!

Hi Yvonne,
Luan is a type of wood often used to make thin plywoods. It’s 1/4″ thick and is very smooth. It can also be spelled lauan or labeled as underlayment. Any smooth, thin plywood will work. Hope this helps!
