The Cliffhanger Bath Plans: One Tile, 2 Ways

September 15, 2021 · 2 Comments

Things are coming together at the Cliffhanger. The windows have come in and are being installed this week. Today I’m sharing with you a peek into the bathrooms.

One Tile, 2 ways

The very first item I picked out for this house was a bathroom vanity. It was cute with a good price tag, and I thought it would be a great addition to the downstairs bath.

The second item was this blue tile! I loved the matte blue color. The plan was to put the brick pattern on the floor and use the herringbone as an accent in the shower. Unfortunately, the brick isn’t rated for bathroom floors, so we ended up switching to the herringbone. Not that I’m upset about it! It is pricier, but the pattern adds a great detail to the room.

So in this house, we used this tile 2 ways: one scheme for the downstairs bath, and one for the upstairs bath. The downstairs bath has a new vanity while we are refreshing the upstairs bath but keeping the existing oak vanity.

Nautical and Natural

The downstairs bath is very nautical feeling with the blue floors and clean chrome accents. The wood mirror adds a bit of warmth to the cool blue and chrome.

This vanity is very pretty in person, with nice detailing and a widespread faucet. To pull the look together, I opted to swap out the brushed nickel pulls with simple chrome ones. (These are the ones I selected).

I finished with one of my favorite bath lines, the Gatco Latitude II, also in chrome. It has nice simple lines at a great price point.

Oak Vanity Refresh

Looking to update your own bath without adding a whole new vanity? We used the blue tile here to provide a more updated feel to the upstairs bath where we are using the existing oak vanity. A new streamlined sink helps update it further. The floor becomes the key stand out feature in this bath, and the oak and blue provide a great color combo.

Here I’ve included a simple modern light with brass and black accents. With this combo, a black or brass faucet would also look nice. I ended up going with chrome in this bath and black in this bath.

Next Up

Next I’ll share the inspiration for the master bath. The master bath in this house has probably evolved, from initial plan to final plan, more than any room in any of my houses so far!
