The Cliffhanger Finale

October 29, 2021 · 8 Comments

Not a moment too soon, the Cliffhanger went on the market! It was a crazy week to finish it up as we were heading to California. But I can finally grab some pics and post for all of you. If you want to start at the beginning, check it out here.

I originally planned for this to just be one post, but it quickly turned out to be very picture heavy. So I’ll do half today and half tomorrow. Enjoy!

Exterior

This is definitely the biggest exterior transformation of any house we’ve done. The siding color appeared so yellow before against the powder blue trim and shutters. Adding in the crisp white trim of the windows, black shutters, white dentil molding and trim and a black door, this home has turned from 90s to classic. We used large wall lights in black with a pretty seeded glass next to the door, and added some silver details with the handleset, kick plate and door knocker.

Entry

Welcome home! The foyer is light and bright with the large windows above the front door. We removed the grills from the large picture frame window and opened up the blinds to let the light shine in. A new light fixture, picture frame molding and some paint adds in some warmth.

Dining Room

We continued the picture frame molding and new wood floors from the entry into the dining room. I will admit, I did not like these floors when we chose them. They were ok, but not what I had in mind. However, once we got them in, I really loved them! The color and sheen are pretty and classic.

Living and Family Rooms

Kitchen

We kept the solid oak custom cabinets and added some beautiful quartz countertops. We extended the countertop on the island to create an additional eating area and more work space. To reduce some of the wood, we trimmed out the back of the island and side of the wall ovens and painted in a crisp white. New appliances, flooring and lighting rounded out the update.

Downstairs Bath

Bathrooms are so difficult to photograph, and this little guy was no exception! Tight spaces and trying to avoid the mirror reflection made it close to impossible. But this room is one of my favorites. I fell in love with this herringbone flooring and vanity early on in the reno, so I waited a while to see this come to fruition. The light fixture echoes the floors while the wood mirror brings in some warmth. I chose crisp chrome fixtures to round out this nautical bath.

Don’t miss part 2 here where you can see the rest! If you are looking for sources, I’ve created a separate post to make everything easier to find. You can find that here.

Until then…

    Hi,

Your kitchen looks beautiful. I have a kitchen with oak cabinets and I’m trying to do something similar to you to update it while keeping the oak. Would you be able to tell me what flooring you used in your kitchen? Thanks

Hi Trisha, thanks so much! The flooring is MSI White Ocean vinyl plank. You can find it here.
