I’ve got a little thing about putting holes in my wall… I hate to do it! Between having a new house with no holes and being leery about committing to anything decor-wise, I’ve started relying heavily on Command strips and hooks. Other than our TVs and our towel hooks, everything else is hung with those miracle strips.
Curtains are no different. Aside from the holes, I really hate using drywall anchors. I always seem to have a problem with them, and taking them out just destroys the wall even more! This solution has also been perfect for staging, when I need to hang quickly and remove them without damage. No drills, no levels, no drywall anchors… easy peasy! Here is how I do it!
Supplies:
This is my favorite command hook. It doesn’t look like the typical command hook, and it is lightweight. It’s easy to spray paint to match your curtain hardware. I prefer the large size to allow more room for finials and rods. I don’t have much luck finding these hooks in stores, so I order them online here.
I try to use rods on the lighter side. Here are some fun suggestions on rods to use!

Here’s the super easy part. I just use my square and my window trim to determine where I need to place the hook back. Here, I wanted my hook to be 7 inches away from the trim, and 3 3/4 inches up. I line up the hook back against the side of the square with the bottom corner at 3 3/4″, then press into the wall.
Next, to keep the rod from sliding on the hook, I cut these velcro tabs in half and attach to the rod and hook. This keeps the rod in one spot and allows you to take the curtains on and off as needed.
Place the rod on the hooks and you are done!! So easy!

Hi Claire! A 3/4" rod would fit. The cup where the rod sits is about an inch wide on the large command hook. Make sure you also consider the total weight of the rod and curtains, and also the size of the finial. The center of the rod will sit about 1" away from the wall. Hopefully that helps you size your finial, if that makes sense!
Do you have a favorite way to hem the top of the curtains for the rod to slide in? Also noticed there is a bit of the curtain on the outside of where the rod sits in the command hook, do you provide an opening in the hem? And will these hooks hold a lined curtain?
Hi Sheryl, I made the curtains in the picture with back tabs. Check out my post http://inbetweenchaos.com/2016/11/17/super-easy-back-tab-curtains/ on a really easy way to make them. With any back tabs, you can simply move one tab to the other side of the command hook. I think they can hold lined curtains, but it still depends on overall weight, including the weight of the rods, how heavy the fabric is, and the length of the curtains. Although the curtains I show here are not lined, they are of decent weight and are almost 9' tall, so it is certainly possible. Be sure to follow the directions on the hook by making sure the surface is clean, you are adequately pressing the adhesive strips to the wall, and you give them time to cure. Good luck!

Hi Kristine! Hmmm... not sure about small children. A good yank or swinging on the curtains could cause the them to come down. Although that's happened to me with curtains screwed into the wall too. I think it could be fine depending on your kids ages, but definitely use your judgment.

Hi Dee, Unfortunately, I got this rod at Target, and they no longer sell it. I'm pretty sure it was a Room Essentials rod, so they may have another style with the same color... but I can't say for sure. I will say, don't be afraid to grab a can of spray paint and paint a rod/ and or the hooks to match. Good luck!
