It is SO hard… soooo hard… for me to say goodbye to summer. I love spring and summer. Heat doesn’t bother me. I love being outside. I try to hang on as long as I can. But once I get over the hump, once I can accept that I need to say goodbye to summer for another year, I am ready, almost giddy, to move into fall. I just have to block out the very real feeling that I’m cheating on summer.
I cannot tell a lie… I’ve JUST put away a little sign in my living room that says “Think Spring”. I guess it was finally time. But I’m replacing it with some fresh fall beauties. I’m totally hopping on the creamy white and green train this year. Add in some pretty wood tones and ticking stripe fabric, and I’m in love.
Faux fruit from the dollar store painted a creamy white mixes easily with drying hydrangeas from my garden. I love them with the ticking stripe fabric (like this fabric, or this one) and these perfect wheat bundles. I finally used an old galvanized feed scoop I picked up at an auction last year, since it reminded me of the feed scoops I used when helping my dad in the milking parlor.
I think my favorite piece is this gorgeous wooden tray. I can’t stop looking at it from every angle. I also added a new, slightly more modern, white pitcher to my collection.
How are you decorating this year? Are you trying anything new?
