We used to have one of those plastic play kitchens. It worked well enough when we had just one child playing with it, but add in two more, and there were way too many cooks in the kitchen! Well, at least that’s how I rationalized needing to make them a new kitchen. I checked out Ana White’s one piece kitchen plans but ultimately decided on the modular ones. I’m so glad I did because the pieces are easy to move and rearrange, and the kids love to move them to different rooms, like the family room or porch, depending on where they’ve set up their latest restaurant.
I used this plan for both the sink and the stove, increasing the height on the pieces to 26″ to give them a little more time before they outgrew it. The refrigerator is the perfect spot to hide all of their kitchen items. I increased the height on the refrigerator so it didn’t look squatty next to the sink and stove. I added a door under the sink to create a dishwasher with a drying rack. The burners are simple black vinyl decals, and the sink is a dog bowl. I looked for the cheapest faucet I could find that still felt realistic after having no luck at the thrift stores. The faucet gives big impact, but it takes up little space. I painted it Bay by Pantone then added simple ceramic knobs and Lansa handles from IKEA.
Happy Cooking!

I love this! How much did you increase the height of the fridge? Thanks!
Thank you for your kind comment and for checking out my site! I apologize for not responding sooner... your message was in spam for some reason. The fridge is 40" tall, and the other cabinets are 25 3/4" including the counter. Hope this helps!
Hi! Would you mind sharing what hinges you used for the inset fridge/freezer doors? I'm a diy newb and a bit clueless! Thanks
Hi Callie - I love newb's! Welcome! I used this type of hinge. It's easy because it mounts on top without any holes to be bored. Good luck! I'd love to see pics of your project!
Hi Callie, is this kitchen made out of kitchen cabinets? Is there a better tutorial to look at? I love this concept for my twin grands, but an perplexed on the making of the fridge
Thanks

Hi Sarah - thanks for stopping by! This is a plan by Ana White. It's mostly made of 1x lumber. Here is a link to the actual plan for the stove/ sink:

and the refrigerator

I didn't create a detailed post here on how to build them because she has a very detailed post at her site. I did make all of the cabinets taller, with the stove and sink at 26" tall and the fridge at 40". This has really helped so they don't outgrow it too fast! The fridge is also a great place to hide all the kitchen toys :)
I hope this helps. Please feel free to check back with any questions.

I was wondering what color did you paint this kitchen? I love it!
Hi Valerie, It is Sherwin Williams Mint Condition.
