Best Curtain Rods for Command Hooks

UPDATE: I’ve updated most of the links below for availability purposes. But if you are still looking for more options, check out my new post here.

If you’ve been here before, you know that all of the curtains in my house are hung with command hooks.  I love how stinkin’ easy they are to hang and how low commitment they are! I’ve already changed curtains in a couple of rooms, and I have no holes to fill or guilt to squash. And they are a lifesaver when staging a home to sell.

If you’d like to see how I do it, check out this post.

I’ve received a lot of questions about good rods to use. And as rods come and go, I thought it would be helpful to recommend a few.  These recommendations are based on my favorite hooks, which you can find here.  Actually they are the only ones I use.  They look the part, and I like the way they give a nice bed for the hook to lay on.  For the large hooks, the center of the rod will sit about 1″ away from the wall.  So I wouldn’t go any larger than a 2″ diameter finial.

A note on color: Many of these come in a variety of colors.  Just spray paint your command hooks to match!  I’ve done this many times, and it’s quite easy.  There are a variety of beautiful spray paints on the market to match just about any metallic rod.  Have some fun with it!

  • Hi! I am wondering if you have any advise for hanging a scarf valiance on a window that sits flush against a wall. I am interested in the no-hole system, but don't believe the command strips will work on the side that is flush with the wall. Thank you!!

    • Hi Ali, thanks for stopping by. I'm having trouble trying to envision what you mean about being flush with a wall. Do you mean that the window butts right up to a perpendicular wall?

  • Hi. I really like your idea. I live in an apartment, and my daughter wants to hang curtains. The challenge I’m having is that I’m visual, and without step by step pictures showing the process for using Command Strips to hang the rods. Thank you for your help. Rosalind

    • Hi Rosalind, Be sure to check out the link in the top of the post to my post on how I use command hooks. Hope it helps, and good luck!

  • Are there command hooks for the aluminum adjustable curtain rods? The kind that are curved on each end.

  • Hi! This is an amazing list and I loved so many of these but most of them aren’t available- it would be awesome if it was updated because you found really great ones! Thank you!!

    • Thank you! I will try to put together another list soon. I've found most of my rods at Target and Walmart, and they do tend to rollover products quickly.

  • I really like your curtain instruments. In fact, we haven't seen a good quality curtain instructor yet. Hopefully you will upload better curtain accessories to your site. You are providing a very nice idea. Thank you very much.
