It’s amazing how a little bit of dirt can be so exciting! We built our house and put in a pool 5 years ago, and we’ve been planning to do this ever since. We’ve had a lot of ideas and iterations, and over the years it has changed a bit as our needs have changed. But this past April, I went into overdrive to get this baby finalized and built. After laying out oodles of pink flags, and measuring concrete, and fences and distances to our septic tanks and drain fields… after changing our minds on what we wanted and needed in a pool house… after becoming a house flipper and woodworker and needing a workshop and a ton of storage space for my staging supplies… we’ve broken ground!
The main building will be a 22×30 garage, separated in 2 between a workshop in the front and a mini garage in the back… mostly for pool and landscaping storage. Also in the back will be steps to the 2nd floor, where I will have storage space for staging gear.
In the pool area, we have the biggest thing we built this for… shade! We live out in the open (i.e. lots of breezes), and I’ve been through SO many umbrellas and stands. I never tried an offset umbrella, mainly because to get a good one you have to lay down a chunk of change, and I thought it wasn’t worth it since we were so close to building this… boy was I wrong!
But also in this area, I plan to have a small fridge with some countertops and storage. We want to add shelves for some wi-fi speakers, a small dining area, places to hang our towels, and a few other features. I’ll be posting updates as we move along, but for now… DIRT! 🙂
