This post has been on my mental list for a while now, as many of the curtain rods in my last post are no longer available. But when a reader asked for new suggestions, I prioritized this!
Note: As I went back to update the previous post, I realized I’d already selected many of the same rods! But here is an updated list, and I’ve gone back and updated the links in the previous post as much as I could.
I am not shy in loving my command strips for hanging curtains. If you’ve never seen my post on how I do it, check it out here.
One of the keys to successfully using command hooks for curtain rods is being mindful of weight and size. I do not use rods larger than 3/4″ in diameter. I’m also careful to use lighter materials, paying close attention to the finials. For example, look for acrylic over glass. Many times the product description will give you weight.
I really tried to dig in here and find a variety of rods, in length, colors and design. There are many of the standard colors, but I also tried to find some golds, brasses and copper. I hope you find something in here that works for you!
First up: these pyramid faceted rods from Target. I kinda dig ’em! They are available in lengths of 28-48″ and 48-84″.
A simple option with pretty finishes. Available in 28-48″ and 48-84″ lengths.
I like the simplicity of these endcaps, and the finish on the nickel looks rich and warm. Available in 28-48″ and 48-84″.
These rods are more petite at 1/2″ in diameter and are available in 24-48″ and 48-86″.
brushed brass | nickel | white | matte black
This line has tons of great reviews on Amazon. In addition to these finishes, champagne silver, brushed brass and weathered brown, they also have black, white, and oil rubbed bronze. Length options are 24-48″ and 48-86″
These rods come in 28-48″, but I included them here for their color options, copper, pewter, and silver, and I like the different finial shape.
Many of the rods above max out at 84 to 86″. If you have a wider span, check out these options.
These rods have two lengths: 36-72″ and 72-144″. And in addition to the cap finial below, there are other finial options available in the AmazonBasics line.
Marble | Caged Sphere |Clear | Knob | Square Finial
These come in 3 finishes – black, nickel, and pewter – and 3 lengths – 28-48″, 48-84″, and 66-120″.
These rods are meant as secondary double rods, but their length, price, and diameter make a great combo. The length expands from 44″ to 120″
Many of the above options have similar colors available, but I wanted to find a pretty gold in a longer rod. These Ivilon rods come in 28-48″, 48-86″, and 72-144″. There are also coordinating clips.
These 3/4″ rods come in a length of 62-144″, 4 finishes, and12 different finial options. Here are just 4 options below.
Be sure to double check all finial sizes. These recommendations are based on my favorite hooks, which you can find here. Actually they are the only ones I use. They look the part, and I like the way they give a nice bed for the hook to lay on. For the large hooks, the center of the rod will sit about 1″ away from the wall. So I wouldn’t go any larger than a 2″ diameter finial.
Large Timeless Hook
A note on color: Many of these rods come in a variety of colors. Just spray paint your command hooks to match! I’ve spray painted many of my hooks to match the rod without any issues. Check out the many metallic colors offered by Rustoleum. The rods in the pic below of the blue dotted curtains were spray painted with the gold color. There are a variety of beautiful spray paints on the market to match just about any metallic rod.
Good luck and enjoy your new rods!
